I remember talking to the guys who were flying Gen Shelton to Europe on an E-4B so Shelton could fire Clark. Shelton basically thought Clark should have never achieved 4-star rank....it was a tragedy that he made it beyond the rank of Major.

Any idea what Clark's rank was before fellow Arkansas-Rhodes Schol. Clinton promoted him up the chain?
I'm guessing no more than 1 star.
