Dear Mr. President George W. Bush,
Thank you, great leader George W. Bush. I would like to express my best regards to your Excellency, your family and the American people. I am an Iraqi who is living in exile and being extremely grateful for the heroic act by the American and the coalition of the willing forces to remove the criminal gang in Baghdad headed by Saddam Hussein.
Thank you for showing everyone what a danger Saddam Hussein represents. Many of us might otherwise have forgotten that he used chemical weapons against his own people, against the Kurds and against the Iranians. Hussein is a bloodthirsty dictator and one of the clearest expressions of evil in today’s world.
We, the Iraqi people in exile, were very happy when heard of the news of Saddam Hussein’s capture. This is the best news we have heard since 35 years of suffering under the criminal regime of Saddam Hussein. Therefore we ask you, to bring Saddam Hussein to justice, and give him a open trial in Iraq, in a Iraqi Court led by Iraqi judges.
I would like to emphasize the following:
1. Family and I are still on our promise to protect the liberation army as best as we could.
2. There is no place in Iraq or in our hearts for the thugs of bath party.
3. We would like, if possible, to see the Iraqi airports to be open as soon as possible as this could prove vital in improving life of our relatives and friends inside Iraq allowing us to contribute to the society in a more positive way economically, socially helping in spreading the word of democracy by sharing our experience with the locals helping in creating more friendly environment to the brave American men and women who are sacrificing their blood for the sake of our cause.
4. We would like to see the Arabic media channels, hostile to our cause, are being controlled by regulations in order to prevent the sabotage of the reconstruction efforts and the security situation, especially Aljazeera as it insults Iraqis on daily bases.
5. We need an Iraqi TV and radio on air to allow Iraqis to express themselves and defend their freedom.
6. More firm action against bath party thugs, they are trying to ruin our joy and happiness. (The Iraqi resistance, led by bath thugs)

Certainly it would be nice to be able to rid ourselves of slanderous and cynical voices such as al Jazzera, but that ain't gonna happen. The truth is, unfortunately, that freedom isn't freedom without the possibility of such voices--and that in fact such voices are naturally the loudest kind. The people who spend big bucks on publishing newspapers are the ones who can make big bucks doin it--and the rules they follow to do that are more cynical than they are conservative.
Don't be fooled by the fact that America calls its advocates of freedom "conservative"; freedom implies the possibility and inevitability of change. And likewise America calls its advocates of reduced freedom "progressive", which is likewise the opposite of the reality.

Thank you for your support, and many Iraqis just like me, are very gratefull for the efforts of the AMERICAN TROOPS the real heros that liberated us.
The Iraqis that are against the U.S are those that lost many $$$$ because their UNCLE SADDAM has been removed. The real Iraqis are very thankfull and please don't think we hate you!!

LRG, you can never tell what anyone thinks on the Internet from just one post, but if you read the story linked by the picture in my post about how the Spartans held the pass at Thermopylae against the Persians, you might begin to understand that my comments are sincere.
You see, Greece had been continually threatened by Persia since the battle of Marathon in 490bc, which they had just barely managed to win. By 480, a Greek statesman Themistocles warned his people that they had to be ready to fight on the ocean and at the borders.
To make a long story short, they went out to meet the Persians, and while they were finally overwhelmed (due to a betrayal by one of their own) at a distance away from Greece at the battle of Thermopylae, 300 fathers were asked to stay behind and slow down the advance of the Persians. Someone warned that the Persian archers alone could kill them all in a very short time with clouds of arrows that would darken the sky, and their leader, Leonidas retorted, "That's no problem -- we'll be fighting in the shade." They fought thousands and thousands of Persians, killing them one after another. Finally they were surrounded, weak, and bleeding. Xerxes shouted "Give us your weapons," to which the brave Leonidas said those famous lines that will burn in the American soul forever: Come and take them! After more Persians were slaughtered, eventually there were no Spartans left, and the rest is history. The retreating force went back to warn their countrymen, who prepared a defense that would hold.
Our story is the same today. We have a small force in Iraq telling the world that we will go anywhere, fight anyone, and sacrifice whatever it takes to defend the Republic. At some distance from home, they are meeting the pan-Arab fascists and the Islamic jihadis in their own territory. And they will find that even if they darken the sky with their WMDs, we will still fight them and win in the end.
And what do you mean about his buddies who are not coming home?
Some are not coming home, we know that. They were obedient to our laws -- the written ones involving fulfillment of contractual obligations -- and the unwritten one that says we fight to the death for our families and our freedoms. A monument still resides in the pass near Thermopylae with an inscription on it that simply says:
Stranger, bring the message to the Spartans that here
we remain, obedient to their orders.
