"Coca plants don't grow in Canada."

"Not in Mexico either -- cocaine gets shipped in from Colombia to Mexico. "

Yes but Canada is not on the route from Columbia to the U.S. like Mexico. In fact, much of the cocaine that ends up in Canada passes through Mexico and the United States before getting up there. Geographical realities dictate that much of the drugs coming into the U.S. from South America will pass through Mexico before making it here.

Thank you for interjecting your comments to the thread. You said in past discussions that you are a lawyer, so you see what happens with this stuff first-hand.

I have a good friend out in eastern Washington State. It's mostly backwater, podunk white hillbillies. She says that about 10 meth labs go down every month, either from police busts, explosions, fires, robberies by other drug dealers, etc. The problem is so bad that lots of places are getting contaminated with this toxic waste. It's contaminating farm fields, rivers, water tables, etc. She says you can smell the labs from a mile away. UGH!

But guess what? There ain't too many Mexicans out there. And of course it's supply and demand. Why blame the supplier?! If it wasn't for crusty, scumbag white-bread screwhead tweakers, no one would make this stuff in the first place.

But then again this is even yet another example of the confusion with the WOD over supply and demand.

I'm sure that Merk or Pfiser could make meth much easier and cleaner than any screwhead chemists. And at least Merk or Pfiser won't dump toxic waste in the water supply or in a farmer field (if they do at least we can sue them.)

This makes me feel bad, as I have always tried to be compassionate towards people who get sucked into drugs. But in the year 2004, if you do not know that heroin, cocaine, or meth is very harmful to you, will poison your body and mind, and will kill you in the end, there is nothing more anyone can do. I say let them make this stuff in a lab for cheap, let anyone who wants to buy it go right ahead, and hopefully they will kill themselves off in droves. That might be the only thing that will prevent the next generation of bored, rural, white-bread tweakers from poisoning themselves and our rural areas into extinction.
