Buchannan ran in 2000 because the fringies convinced him they could pull off an upset. They garnered barely 1% of the vote. It will be the same way this election.
The elected Republicans are very savvy as to what the public demands. If there is as much division in the party as the fringe claims, they will tow it in and please the majority of the base as they usually have.
But the bulk of the Republicans in this country do not even know that this forum exists so very few people see this bickering going on.
And if they did, they'd see the fringies for what they are -- fringies -- have a good laugh, and go vote to re-elect President Bush.
To recycle an old slogan, "It's National Security, Stupid!"
