No, the so-called 'greatest generation' were the parents of the baby-boomers. The baby-boomer generation will go down in history as people who had everything going for them, and what a bunch of fools they were.

You are no Mufti!
You attempt to make mock up of Isalami!
I declare fatwa on you and your evil decendents!
Allah Allah In Free!

You may sweat bullets, but you let them play. Good for you. He looks like a smart kid and I'm sure he listened to his AppyPappy about safety around water.

While I don't disagree-that we boomers have blown it-I've read somewhere the theory that the Greatest Generation wasn't near as good at parenting as they were at saving civilization.Mine were ok,although they technically were between the GG and mine, whatever those people are called.Born early 30s.

They don't know what it is. Satire can get you killed.A fatwa with your name on it is being prepared as we speak.

The creek is only a foot deep. I'm more worried about people even though the road behind only goes to our neighborhood. If anyone decides to mess with them, they will be wearing that poker. His sister took the picture BTW

I remember when my parents bought a refrigerator and I got the box. It became my own personnel space ship. I drew dials and controls on the In side. It was cool I spent hours doing it. When a little older we use to go swimming in the creek about a mile from home. Swimming in the buff lol. Sometimes we would take our 22's with us. Bagged a mean ole snapping turtle once. I can't imagine kids doing this these days.

Great Article!...
Kids knew how to climb trees, do wheely's on there bikes (Which wasn't awarded in some competition event) since we all did it. Made there own skateboards, and it seemed like you knew everyone in your area, from all your neighbors, the owner (American Born) who owned the local liquor store, the guy who ran the laundromat, the grocery clerks, so of course they were looking out for ya! and reports of bad behaviour were given to "Mom" Life was Simple.
My remembrance was walking! especially in Junior High it was far. about 1 1/2 hr from my house, and we had to walk, and possibly were given a ride if a bridge was flooded out!
But your right there were definetly "NO FAT KIDS"

I think you have to be 16 to use a range with your parent, and I would love to introduce my 9 and 13 year olds to the world of real firearms. I don't know about the range, but I've got 2 acres just across the bay......my husband is itching to start teaching our daughter, but thinks she's still a bit too immature - she's only 5.

We also played "smear the queer" and "butts up"
I know what smear the queer is but what was Butts up?
Also, As a kid growing up, we often played tackle football with no pads on, of course this was on the grass lawn. We knew better than to play tackle football on gravel. I guess we were wussess.

I would ride my bike down our hill on the handlebars! Many times I would crash into my neighbors cars! No car seats, my mom said when we were babies she would put a raw egg in our formula to shut us up and make us full! Can you imagine! Today I have to ask my Dr. if I can give my newborn Rice Cereal in her bottle.

we can't just let her run and play like we did when we were children. Some of this is due to the nanny state and overly sensitive parents. However, a lot of it is because there are perverts in our society today that prey on children.

I imagine some might be poor. Then they would be doubly proud.
