No. Ferrets aren't rodents at all. They're related to otters, skunks, and minks. I've had ferrets as pets (have one now) and have found them to be gentle and affectionate.

We have a Ferret named Fred. The kids have a dog and a cat too but their favorite is Fred. Very loveable little guy.

Thank you. We have had ferrets. If taken care of properly and trained, they are as loving,gentle,loyal and clean a pet you could ever wish for. I have always been a cat lover. My little girl ferrets were like having kittens for years! Hard to describe how terrific a pet they can be. Most people seem compare them to rats, which may not be a bad thing, if you like rats! The lower case ones, not Rats!
