Where in the Constitution does it say a minority may tie up the work of the Senate. In all other things a majority rules, not some bunch of malcontents, that don't get their way. I belive the Constitution only has three exclusions from majority rule

Perhaps you misunderstood my post.

I think it's wrong for the rats to hold up GWB's nominations, but rats are rats.

My post has to do with the timing of GWB's decision to use the recess appointment. Pickering was nominated by Bush on May 25, 2001 for a seat on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Bush has bypassed several opportunities to use the recess appointment for Pickering.

Now that Bush has angered the conservatives to the point that we are:

1) Withholding funds
2) Changing parties
3) Planning to vote 3rd party
4) Planning to vote rat (for gridlock)
5) Planning to stay home on election day
6) Or any of the above

GWB suddenly feels the need to kiss up to conservatives, and "throw us a bone", so to speak.

I was pointing out that this is much like a pet owner throwing some table scraps to the dog, or a man bringing home flowers after wasting his paycheck on gambling and booze.

and saying he supported segregation while a young man and held anti-voting rights and anti-abortion positions while a state lawmaker.

Perhaps he did, I don't know and I doubt Kennedy or Daschle know either. But I do know the Apostle Paul opposed Christianity and severely persecuted Christians before his Damascus road experience, yet he became the greatest figure of all the Christian church after Jesus himself.

People grow and and their attitudes change, and I'm quite confident Judge Pickering holds no segregationist views at this stage of his life.

The American Life League (search), which opposes abortion rights, said it was pleased with the president's decision.

Corrected statement:

"The American life League, which opposes the murder of unborn human beings, said it was pleased withthe president's decision."

You can take my response any way you wish.

I don't care.

Likewise you may continue to support this guy and feel any way you want to about it.

I see the reality of our president's actions clearly.
