Actually they do have MLRS now, in the form of HIMARS, they also have an agreement with the Army to provide them with MLRS support.

MLRS is nice, but nothing gives that warm feeling like hot steel out of a rifled tube.

All the more reason to keep the 4.2" w/longer barrel and beefed up base plate- some experiments had the old warhouse plunking rounds in at +10 klicks. It's jeep portable, packs a punch...and without fail that particular weapon system somehow attracts the best, the brightest, and the most handsome of all military personell. Don't why that's so...but it's true.

MLRS can't pop illume.
Illume is useful as a psyche attack on the opfor, nothing makes one feel so visible and vulnerable as having bright light on you.
Don't think MLRS has WP rounds either.
MLRS is useful, and instead of the rivalry between the disciplines that I ran into during my stay in uniform- the two disciplines, MLRS and tube artillery, should be used together for max effect destruction and psyche impact.

But, we aren't the ones writing policy.
