"Bush had better start doing something right, because Dubya needs to remember who brung him to the dance."

Those of us who brought Dubya "to the dance" will NOT be happy campers until the Amnesty For Illegal Invaders scheme is taken off table completely

I hope he realizes that.

Seriously -- And you don't think the timing of this appointment was in the least coincidental?

The time to have done this was immediately following the umpteenth time the democrats blocked a vote on GW's appointments.

No wonder the WH takes our votes for granted. We're SO easy to please.

Absolutely. But for some reason he doesn't want to rattle Uncle Teddy's cage and embarrass him.

Personally, I don't think "we" are. It's the pragmatic-centrist wing of FR and the GOP who are easy to please.

We realize this appointment is just a bone, a pacifier to quiet the vociferous rage of the conservative base who passionately oppose the Amnesty Plan.

Look for more "goodies" soon.

Don't hold your breath. Congress will defeat the Amnesty proposal - we hope. Nice of Bush to wave that offering at the Mexican vote which will go to the Democrats anyway, and anyone but an idiot would know that.

It's the New World Order, though. I used to wonder about his father's use of that phrase, but with Dubya's acceptance of open southern borders and rewarding the invaders, I'm starting to see the hard truth.

But why worry, we're going to the moon again, and Mars.....we're off to see the Wizard.

LOL.

I saw the headline and wondered how many posts it would take before it turned negative...I wasn't disappointed in how quickly it turned.

That's only because they're bound and determined to hang themselves.

Well according to their "logic" that this was because of their "fearsome" outrage over the immigration proposal, Bush made the appointment, and in their blissful ignorance failed to know that Bush has been threatening this move for over a year.

Yes, but this week they really, really, really do mean it when they say they aren't going to vote for Bush again, for the first time.

More conservative until his appointment is up in a year at least. Then won't it be back to square one?

Personally I don't understand all the cheering on this thread. The Democrats have succesfully blocked Bush's lifetime apointments. Frist's and Bush's weakness are partially to blame for this situation.

January 1st, 2003 Bush offered Pickering a recess appointment and he turned it down. What was the "wag the dog" scenario that time?

The rantings of a derelict.

Until you, mcdaniell, can figure a way to get 60 votes to get around a filibuster, you ought to shut your ample yap!
