I can hear the Democratic spin already . . . How dare the President appoint Pickering a few days before Martin Luther King day! Pickering is a KKK-loving racist . . . now it's time to change Robert Byrd's depends.
You got that one right on the money... saw excerpt of Kerry today on Brit Hume doing just that.

How refreshing it has been to come back from an evening out, and scroll down and read all the posts of people who GET IT!
I thank the Lord EVERY DAY for this President; for what he has done to restore this nation, for what he has done to protect its people, for what he has done to stand strong for America abroad, for what he has done for our magnificent military........and that's just for starters.
It's been so ugly around here that I've wondered if demons had overtaken this website......
THANK you all!! (and those of you whom I've missed).
God BLESS America!

WKB is our Mississippi's wittiest and most knowledgeable poster. Succinct and eloquent. And shy. Hope he doesn't read this.

Pickering sworn in to 5th Circuit
The Associated Press
1/16/2004, 7:08 p.m. CT
Jackson (AP) Federal judge Charles Pickering joined the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals of tonight (Friday) hours after President Bush bypassed Congress to put him on the bench.
Pickering, 66, took the oath of office from fellow Appeals Judge Rhesa Barksdale at the federal courthouse in Jackson.
Joining Pickering for the swearing in were a host of family members, including son U.S. Rep.Chip Pickering, who actively campaigned for his father's appointment to the bench.
Pickering becomes the third Mississippian on the 5th Circuit, joining Barksdale and Judge E. Grady Jolly.
Pickering declined to answer specific questions about what he had been through over two years, other than to tell the crowd "it had been a long journey."

Finally?? Give me a break!
What do you think it's taken to destroy two evil regimes in two years, and have all the dictators in the world cowering in their boots?
Not the work of a wimp, I'll tell you that.........

Wow, did I need this good news today.
Our President should henceforth be known as Mr. Right Stuff.

President Right Stuff's sudden development of elephantiasis of the gonads compliments his other attributes.
Yippeeki-effing-yay indeed.

I SO agree with you about that photo of our Dubya, Rudy and Gov. Pataki. I have loved that photo from the moment I first saw it. Very touching and very eloquent in what it says without words.

Bush is a RINO that's selling out his base. . . < /sarcasm> GW has sold out "the base" more times than I care to remember. But I'll give credit when due. </me speaking for me>

He is indeed worth praying for and he says he feels the prayers of the American people and they sustain him. I think a lot of people who write the White House say in their notes that they are praying for the President. He's not ashamed of his faith, so many Americans are comfortable sharing their faith with him.

Not bad for a President who isn't a "real" conservative! GW did good today. But I don't think you should blow that horn too loudly. GW is not a "real conservative" by a long shot. So as not to spoil the party, I won't elaborate.
