I agree walking works. It's all a matter of calories: walking for 1 hour is, all things considered, less effective than running for 1 hour. I'm not a runner, but I've seen the evidence. If people have limited time, and their legs can take it, I'd always recommend running. My legs no longer are that spry.

I got that "Pilates of the Carribean" video, I haven't the faintest idea what it has to do with exercise. :)

Of course, the best weight-loss plan I ever tried was playing hockey. I once lost 10 pounds doing that -- in one freakin' day. Holy sh!t, don't ever try that one at home, folks.

You're only 14!!
Grab a bike and go riding with a friend.
Go for a walk.
Jump rope.
Really work at gym class.
Step away from the computer and t.v. go out side!
(I have to say that. I am a Mom.)

I've been using one of these Versaclimbers:

But it might be too bulky for what you're looking for.

7. If you have small children, use them for weightlifting.

I have two cats, what about them? ^^;

I don't know your activity level in the past. But for people who have been physically inactive for years- the biggest mistake they make is to jump right in and start working out hard. Running, Lifting free weights- working out every day for an hour or more. They either injur themselves very quickly and stop excercizing or they tire within a few weeks and can't put up with the muscle pain. So- start slow. If you haven't jogged in 15 years- don't do so now- walk- a few miles every other day. If it is weights- do the minimum- nothing that will strain you- just get the muscles active. And slowly increase the exertion level at a pace that fits you and your goals.

Well I started out walking about 1 mile and then finally graduated to 3 miles and then 6 miles. I have lost a ton of weight all over, even in my arms and I don't do arm exercises. I would like to start running (LOL maybe when it gets warm - Its soooo freakin cold here in NYC!). It takes me 1 1/2 hours to walk 3 miles. I speed walk most of the way and alot of it is uphill. I wouldn't recommend running for an older person but this guy is very young so he could start a nice running regimen.

Well- if you haven't jogged before or are not that athletic now- don't jump right into heavy exercise. The key is knowing your goal (what do hope to accomplish through exercise) and slowly and paiently working towards that goal in a safe manner.

I endorse walking. No need to jog, just a brisk walk at 3.5 MPH for 30 minutes every day. You don't have to diet to lose weight. Just reduce and avoid bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, and sugar. Don't call it a diet, make it a lifestyle change. Eat as much meat and green vegetables as you wish.
