Walking is good. This is not to say a stroll in the park. Rather, a march, as fast as you can make it without losing breath. Work up to it a little bit at a time. Don't kill yourself by trying too much at once. If you get short of breath, STOP!
My job requires a good bit of fast walking. It keeps me from being more of a blob than I am.
I used to run when I was younger, but running is kind of hard on the knees. The march is better.

Best advice I've ever gotten on dieting. Very simple, actually.
Don't eat anything after 6pm.
Walk 1 mile every day
I plan to get back into those 2 things after hibernation season is over in Ohio!

The get-a-beer workout
12-ounce curl: 6 to 8 sets (15, 10)
Most men dont store muscle-obscuring fat on their arms, which is why the biceps respond well to weight training. The perfect exercise, of course, is the 12-ounce curl (TOC). For one thing, its extremely versatile: It can be done standing or sitting, at home or away, bottle or can, domestic or imported. With your arm at a right angle, slowly lift the weight toward your lips. Your arm should be contracted; this will ensure that the target muscle is fully loaded. Maintain that pose for a count of three glugs. Note to beginners: Do not attempt a 16-ounce curlor a pint glassuntil youre confident in your form.
Ummm, 4mycountry, young'uns have to use ginger ale.

I remember an old biker friend telling me one day:
"Ya know, I think I drink more beer than anything. Ever sit down and try to drink a case of Cokes? Ya can't do it!"

This cat lives under my house. I couldn't help but notice that her eyes are unusual.

"Heed their advice with caution"You're right ~ I don't drink or smoke ~ my food intake is low on carbos ~ I don't consider that a diet because I eat lotsa meat, eggs, butter, cheese and veggies.
I ride my SV650 around the back roads for exercise, in fact, I went for a bike ride yesterday, it was great, the bike slid around a little on the twisty hill roads because of the sand and gravel residue left over from the snow ~ still haven't lost my dirt bike riding skills even though I haven't been on a dirt bike since '83. :)

Push-ups and sit-ups everyday. Once in the morning. Once at night. Do as many as you can without stopping. The next day try to beat your previous mark.
Elevate your heart rate for at least 20 minutes a day, four days a week. Go 10 minutes one way then 10 minutes back. If your are really overweight...start slow. Don't start jogging or running too soon.
If something starts hurting. Take a week off or so.
I guarantee you will drop weight and get in shape.
BTW, at one time I was up to 400 push-ups per day, 160 sit-ups, and 3.5 miles in 20 minutes.
