Does anyone familiar with talk radio in the Southern California area know if George Putnam will be returning? He had mentioned coming back to KRLA but I have no information on the station's site and have had no response from them.

TOPICS: Culture/Society; US: California
KEYWORDS: southerncalifornia; talkrado
Any information would be appreciated.

George Putnam is still alive?! He was old when I lived in California back in the 60s and 70s.

Yep, he is...he got edged out of KRLA during some management shakeup a couple of years ago. I think he'd be in his late 80's; last time I heard him, he was still pretty much on his game.

Enter his name in Google and you'll get a LOT of info.
He even has an article dated today, 16 Jan 2004, at NewsMax.com with the station he's on listed at the end.

I listen to him from time to time. He's on afternoons opposite Hannity here in southern CA. I haven't tuned in lately. What happened?

George was on a big campaign against Illegal Immigration until Karma caught up with him and his So. Cal station 830 AM KPLS was bought out by the Mexicans and went Spanish Language.

Thanks for the NewsMax article reference. However they better update their bio on George. He is no longer on that station.

The station he was on, KPLS, is now all-Spanish. On his last day he mentioned he would be back on his old station, Glendale-based KRLA....but still no George. Considering the way KRLA treated him before, I thought it might be just some kind of cruel joke, perhaps.
