I was soliciting checks right after the announcement, and I lost two checks from people who had wanted to come, but wouldn't," Mr. Kent said. "They specifically said this is just rewarding lawbreakers.
Looks like these guys won't be getting their souvenir T-shirts.

A Bush campaign official declined to criticize Mr. Kent, but said of his complaint: "I'm not sure it's that big a deal." That's an interesting attitude.

So, instead of $2,004,000, Bush only made 2,000,000 today?

A majority of Americans adamantly oppose key elements in PresBush`s immigration reform proposals he recently outlined. Americans oppose giving legal status to illegal aliens and increasing legal immigration. They also want the borders sealed shut.
America is in the midst of fighting the war on terrorism. This is the wrong time to propose amnesty for illegals and to allow our borders to remain so porous. This new policy agenda would set back our national security efforts and is counterproductive to the integrity of our society. It's not in the best interests or the well being of the American people.
If some conservatives are holding back monetary support for Bush-Cheney 2004, I can understand why.

"giving legal status to illegal aliens"
That isn't what Bush's plan would do.

If some conservatives are holding back monetary support for Bush-Cheney 2004, I can understand why.I'm not just holding back money. I'm staying home in November. There's going to be more than one Republican on the ballot...Bush isn't the center of the universe.

Good , Pres. Bush turning his back on America should hurt his campaign war chest ,
America should send their money to Tom Tancredo , the true American who is standing up to the 10 million illegal alien invasion of our country .
Tom Tancredo for President 2004
To: Az Joe
Sorry. You're wrong. Here's what PresBush said.
"This program will offer legal status, as temporary workers, to the millions of undocumented men and women now employed in the United States...
Undocumented men and women, aka. illegal aliens. That is the same as granting a pardon and in effect the same as amnesty. I call it backdoor amnesty myself and frankly, its deadwrong. It would appear that PresBush learned nothing from the bad policy decision enacted by Public Law: 99-603, the "Immigration, Naturalization and Control Act of 1986". We don't need to make the same mistake again.

No, not yet. At all. Bush's plan does not confer legal status on any illegal alien. Doesn't mean I don't think it is problamatic

Do you think Bush can take this back somehow? The key point is that he does not have to take this back. There is very little support for the plan on the Hill and much opposition. We will know how much the President is behind the plan by the effort he puts out to pass it.
Personally, I doubt he really goes after this one Hill Cool to Bush Immigration Plan
Washington Post ^ | January 11, 2004 | Helen Dewar

"President Bush's proposal to give temporary legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants is running into stiff resistance from both left and right on Capitol Hill and stands little chance of enactment this year, according to supporters and opponents.
While this assessment is based on early responses, with the lobbying effort barely begun, some lawmakers say the measure's only chance of passage this year would require an all-out push by the president, and even that might not be enough. Many liberal Democrats say the plan does not go far enough in helping immigrants attain U.S. citizenship. And many conservative Republicans, especially in the House, say it goes too far in rewarding foreigners who broke the law to enter the country..."

Bush's plan does not confer legal status on any illegal alienAllowing them to stay here, work here legally isn't "legal status"....I won't even go into the SS benefits bestowed on them for using FALSE (illegal) SS numbers...maybe even yours....You try that, see if you don't land your ass in jail for it...unless of course YOU happen to be illegal too.
