>Michelman added, "As I always tell Sen. Hatch, I don't know why, but I always have this hope that someday a light bulb is going to go off in his little soul."

Hatch suffers from Battered Republican Syndrome. The best thing Michelman can say is belittle the Senator and say she, as a nobody, hopes that a "light bulb" goes off in his "little soul". As if right now his soul is lacking and he needs to "see the light". Wow- what a compliment! And Hatch's response through his spokesperson is expected. Effectively, "Kate is so nice because she has been kind even when we disagree.". Wow, she should get a Nobel Peace Prize. There's a simple way to do this. Every Democrat who demonizes Republicans for merely disagreeing with them should be marginalized and excluded from public discourse. Once we make inroads into the media, this will be more easily accomplished.

R E Tyrrell called it Kultursmog.

It's why Conservatives should be for term limits, even on judges... they seem (with some rare exceptions) to quit being principled conservatives and start quaffing in the bigGovt liberal notions.

How else explain Hatch-Kennedy bills popping up?

They are wearin' Hatch down, bit by bit.
