I worked in a large Corp. and the premise that the Chairman, the CEO would not know about such things is not believable to me.
The Corp. has an Internal Audit Deptartment. The B. of D. has various committees, including Financial and Audit, for example.
And there were whistleblowers, which Lay knew of I recall.
I think when it is final, the higher-ups did know, are lying now about not knowing.

It will be good to see Lay get his due. But Skilling even more so! Skilling is a worm of the worst sort. I can easily see him duping Lay, but that does not absolve Lay of accountability.
