They're a small minority, I checked the one guy's freeper page and he retired as an E-6, so you know how bright he is, not to brag, but I made E-6(BM1) in a little over 6 years and I'm a screw-up.

Like some here, the protesters showed the content of their character. President Bush did, too.

As an independent, African American voter, I take serious offense to your comments. Many of us voted for Bush in 2000, but when blacks like myself come on sites like this and read comments such as yours, this paints the entire Republican party in a negative light.

You have to admit, he had a point sir. More than 90% of African Americans voted for Gore in 2000 and the trend does not look promising for this election cycle. Many feel why reach out to a group that will not vote for you no matter what you do or do not do.

When a co-worker told me she thought Carol Mosley Bruan who dropped out today, would make a fine VP for Dean, after all she is black and a woman. I replied: How about instead of looking for someone who is black, or a woman, or gay or a union member, how about we pick the best person for the job? You will find that a lot of folks here on FR see things similarly. Here on the net I can't see your race or gender or any other physical characteristic. All we can see and judge is the content of your character. That was Dr. Kings goal and I think you'll find that on the conservative side of the fence instead of the reverse discrimination that Liberals tend to advance.

You know I am really sorry for any offense that you read or felt....I haven't read all the postings. It has been nice not to have lived in the south for a long time and to see the racism on both sides. I just do not feel it here in Alaska. It has been nice to raise my son away even from my own families racist attitude. For we truly have to get a grip in this country and see beyond our race and apply some true forgiveness, get rid of offenses, and God grant us the ability to look past them. Help me to speak up when I see them. President Bush is a big man and he felt going today was to honor Martin Luther King and he knew that there would be folks against him but thank God he was man enough to go anyway. I am tired of Africa Americans being used even by members of their own race. Anyway don't need to go on....we are all in this together.

Most of the protesters (including at least one of the arrested) were white!

Good point. And welcome to FR from another newbie.

The days of blacks automatically voting Democrat are rapidly drawing to a close......and rightfully so.

Can't say that with 90% still voting Dem it is rapidly drawing to a close.

I think that is a very sincere photo also....whether she votes for him or not we should still respect her and she should respect him. I think that is what bothers me the most is the nastiness and ugliness in politics and lack of respect. Like Kerry using the F word - now did he really need to do that...I would never vote for the man because of that.

Anyway, thanks for the post...makes me feel better.

I know I've seen several of these "professionals" in antiwar protests last year. They look like old professors who've been protesting since their hippie daze of the 60s and 70s.

BTW, reckon these protesters have a union?

Exactly. As a white voter I agree with you.

It is a fact. Most of the protesters were white fringe group flakes. The type who think these sort of demonstrations gain them some solidarity with black minority organizations, when in fact very few blacks even bothered to show up.

War is not the answer?....what if the question is 'what would the USA look like if we had not fought the Civil War'?

Good point! The people who carry these signs are mindless idiots.

Volunteer to join the army. They'll give you a job and housing. You'll be doing something useful for your country, your family and yourself.

Okay, I will.

Welcome, Scorpiana. This thread happens to be unusually cynical and stinky. I love President Bush and I love MLK, and I don't doubt that President Bush sincerely loves who MLK was.

King was a commie, a philanderer and a plagiarist; he has done nothing worthy to justify the POTUS or the American people honoring his memory. Were he alive today, we would be lumping him together with Jackson and Clinton, not putting wreaths on his tomb.
