Americans Demand Rep. Bill Janklow Accept Responsibility

Motorcyclists, Parents, and Diabetics Across the Nation Demand Janklow Drop Appeals

WASHINGTON, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Outraged diabetics, parents, and motorcyclists across the nation today sent letters to Rep. Bill Janklow (R-SD) demanding he take responsibility for his reckless driving. Janklow, who recklessly ran a stop sign and killed motorcyclist Randy Scott in August 2003, was convicted by a jury in his home state of second degree manslaughter. Despite the conviction and a preponderance of evidence, Rep. Janklow's defense team has continued to file appeals and motions to avoid the inevitable punishment. They have also continued to claim his diabetic condition was to blame for the accident. Many diabetics are furious that he made a mockery of the efforts they employ to ensure the safety of other drivers on the road. Writes one,

"I am a Type 2 diabetic, and a biker. I stick my finger every day to get blood to check by blood sugar, and take my medicines faithfully ... I have been riding for over 30 years, and have never gotten a ticket, nor hit anyone else on the road."

Another man who lost his father wrote:

"We share the grief of Mr. Scott's family, knowing he will never be there for them again, all because he went out to relax by riding his Motorcycle ... I've lost my Dad as well, I KNOW how it feels, to need to talk something over with your best friend, and he's NOT there, and never will be again!"

The letters were delivered in triplicate to Rep. Janklow's local district offices in South Dakota and to the Associated Press bureau in Sioux Falls.

StopRecklessBill.Com was created to monitor the trial and collect open letters to Janklow from people all over the country. The website's creator, Shabbir J. Safdar, is a motorcyclist with more than ten years of riding experience. "We've all borne witness to a terrible tragedy. Bill Janklow is not an evil man, but he is reckless, and that flaw has caused another family to pay the ultimate unacceptable price," Safdar stated. "As a leader, Bill Janklow needs to set an example by taking responsibility for his actions."

I don't know what is worse Janklow who never took responsibility for any of his evil deeds or his apologists who are filling our newspapers with tributes to Janklow and exonerating him from doing anything wrong when he blew through a stop sign at 70+mph and killed and innocent biker.

The latest was a half page ad in the Sunday Argus Leader again exonerating him from any fault and accusing the media of trying to lynch this poor innocent public servant.

A man is dead because that pompous ass insisted on driving at high speed and ignoring every traffic law because he thought he was better than everyone else. At least the good people of South Dakota have some backbone and finally said enough. I expect he will get prison time and deserves every minute of it.
