I believe his story about the Sudan affair.

But, he did have financial interests there, some have said in the very factory we bombed.

He maintains he had a hands off attitude to the Sudanese offer. As in Miniter's book, Losing Bin Ladin, if Ijaz was so sure of the offer, why didn't he push it himself instead of handing it off.

Most who engage in private diplomatic escapades usually don't talk about them too much.

In everything he says, he ALWAYS comes off as THE man.

If he was so good, how come the Bush people aren't using him as a private go between as the Clintons did?

Last fall, he reported Osama in Northern Pakistan in a mountain redoubt surrounded by rings of armed guards in a 70 mile radius.

Wish someone would ask him about all his statements from last year and check whether any amounted to anything.

I recall, as you do, that Ijaz made many predictions that haven't panned out. Maybe it's because he blew the whistle, or may it's because he was blowing smoke. I don't know.

My guess as to why the Bush Administration isn't using Ijaz is that he "outed" himself over the Sudan/OBL affair, and is no use as a discrete negotiator anymore.
