BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Vice President Dick Cheney packed a trip to the Los Angeles area with speeches, a meeting with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and a congratulatory visit to the team that landed the Spirit rover on Mars.
In an address to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, Cheney advocated Bush administration policies on terrorism, Iraq and illegal immigration, at one point warning that "terrorists continue bombing and killing on an ever-larger scale."

Vice President Receives Warm Welcome from JPL

Vice President Dick Cheney paid a congratulatory visit to JPL this afternoon, praising Mars Exploration Rover team members and calling JPL employees "America's most dedicated and successful scientists and researchers." In return, JPL Director Dr. Charles Elachi presented the Vice President with a miniature replica of the rover and mission shirt. The visit preceded an announcement by President George W. Bush to send humans back to the Moon, and ultimately the red planet.
