Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger faces an uphill battle to win voter approval of the first phase of his fiscal recovery plan March 2. But if he is willing to place his personal and political credibility on the line, he can probably pull it off.

I can't remember ever voting for a bond measure, and I don't plan on voting for this one either.

If he's smart, he'll just say "The voters will tell us whether they want to continue to fund programs by passing the bond, or whether they want to cut them further by turning down the bond. I will follow what the voters want."

Californians are living on Cloud Nine. They have no idea just how hard the sky is going to fall after March. And I hope it does for staring disaster in the face is the only thing I can think of that will force the politicians here to tighten our belts.

A new poll released today shows that voters are inclined to oppose Proposition 57, Schwarzenegger's proposal for a $15 billion bond to refinance the state's accumulated debt and ease the transition back toward a balanced budget.

Tomorrow's poll reveals that California voters overwhelmingly approve of Proposition 101 which calls for the Federal government to fully fund the state's deficit!
