More On Arab MK Loyalties

Arab MKs Issam Mahoul and Jamal Zkhalka, upset at a Knesset committee session dealing with the return of the Jews to their ancestral homeland, began screaming today at other MKs, "Fascists! Thieves!"

The Knesset Interior Committee held a session today dealing with state lands in eastern Jerusalem and the Elad Association's fruitful efforts to restore the Jewish presence in Ir David [City of David]. MKs Issam Mahoul and Jamal Zkhalka, visibly upset at the return of the Jews to their ancestral homeland, began screaming at Chairman Yuri Stern (National Union) and MK Nissan Slomiansky (National Religious Party). Zkhalka yelled that this was a session of "Kahane, Fascists, thieves and transfer. You'll meet us in the Hague." Stern answered, "You represent terrorists!" One of the Arabs also accused Slomiansky of being a "settler and a thief." After a 15-minute ruckus, the Knesset ushers removed the Arab MKs from the session.

Aryeh King, the Elad representative at the session, said that private Arab banks in the Palestinian Authority and Saudi Arabia are bankrolling an Arab effort to create Arab territorial contiguity from Ramallah to northern Jerusalem, and from there to the villages east of the capital, and down to Bethlehem. He presented official PA documents indicating the PA's link with this policy, as well as maps showing that Arabs do not build where they have received permits to do so, but rather where they are not allowed. It was reported that between 800 and 900 illegal Arab structures are built each year in eastern Jerusalem - "a problem of national proportions."
