The puppy is gonna be sold at the store anyway, or worse get euthanized by the breeder. Better that the breed rescue folks get it, spay/neuter it and place it in a screened home than to let it go to someone who might not take care of it and abandon it. I'm for healthy breeds and responsible breeders, I loathe pet stores and the junk they sell. Yep, the puppymill gets money, but, its good for a for a small population breed.

No, I wouldn't define one as crappy, just refering to bad genetics. I would take in a dog that was messed up because I love dogs, but I would damn sure feel better that its genes weren't being spread.

You can rationalize all you want but it doesn't change the fact that buying puppymill puppies keeps puppymills in business and turning out more puppies creating more mysery.

Better that the breed rescue folks get it,

Are you now saying they *were* rescue? Honestly, it's very difficult to keep up with just what you *do* mean.

Rescue groups do *not* buy pupppies from petstores furthering the breeding and mysery of those animals. At least no respectable rescue organization will do that. Not unless they are aware that the price of the puppy has been reduced to the point the store/puppymill has *lost* money. Reputable rescue organizations do *not* support puppymills. They realize that some puppies may be sacrificed but that's a difficult choice preferred over supporting the puppymill cycle and contributing to its growth causing more mysery and death. There's a lot more at steak than the puppies you see. There are all the dogs behind the scene living in horrible conditions that most folks cannot imagine. You can get an idea by going here and click on "PuppyMill video" (warning... this is a difficult video to watch). There's a lot of good info on that site about puppymills.

No, I wouldn't define one as crappy

You did in your post. As a matter of fact, more than one.
