I've got a second Lab/chow mix and think they are great.
My mother and brother bred Rottis for years and I have many friends that have raised American Stadfordshire terriers (pit bulls) for years.
Any dog that has not been trained properly is a danger to everyon, including it's owner.

The breeder that I stud my dog with also raises Am Staffs. Good dogs, much more stable than Pits, they do about one litter a year for show, and they get lots of dough for them. They get a bad rap because they look like Pits, but they have a better brain, perhaps because they are professionally bred.

We have a rottie. She's a big baby, and a gentle giant. She lives and loves to please. Now we also have mini schnauzers, and they live and love to BE pleased.
I agree with you, a well socialized dog makes a wonderful pet.
