Back in the 'good old days' when Larrrrry King was doing radio talk, I called to him 2-3 times. As soon as I posited statements (factual) that countered his liberal pap, he cut me off, calling me all sorts of names. It was sad but oh, so funny. I listened to his old night time show (but I prefered Jim Bohanan). Larry would hang up on conservatives rather than defend his position and would then call them "dumb".
Larry King moved to daytime as the original liberal "answer" to Rush Limbaugh. He didn't even last a year. It actually works out better for Larry this way because positioning him as the liberal answer to Rush points out that Larry is a biased journalist. Larry King can host his nightly talk show instead and be perceived as "impartial" among the sheep in this great land.

...and BTW - what kind of sponsors will flock to 'Socialism Now' 1968 AM ? Bailbondsmen are a sure bet.
Also count on snake oil salesmen and used car dealers to spot an easy mark.
All 3 really do advertise on the radio and can be counted on buying cheap airtime for a program that no one else wants to sponsor.
You can probably count on a lot of filler PSAs from the Ad Council as well.

The network should be named MDR, for "Money Down a Rathole". I pity the investors in this loser. Franken's "show" will sink to the bottom faster than the Titanic, especially against Limbaugh. Salon.com was listed at 4 cents a share yesterday. There will always be someone with money paying to keep the propaganda pumping.
Not only is Al competing against Rush, he's competing against the taxpayer subsidized commercial free (no sponsors) socialist Pacifica network. The diehard neocommunists already have boring lectures to listen to on the left end of the dial. Why would they want to subject their programming to actual radio ratings and measurements of audience size?

Anybody else think it's strange his book outsold O'Reilly's? No -- I've read all of O'Reilly's books, and his latest one was really a waste of time.

Actually, in this instance Franken is spot on - Rush does not do well at all in a one-on-one debate.Too bad for the EIB for if it wasn't for this one flaw that Rush totes perhaps someday he could have achieved one of the biggest listening audiences in radio.
Alas, nobody is perfect.

I would call the show "FrankenBaiting" and have a drinking game where everytime they have to bleep out the host, everybody drinks. And if he has a melt-down, everybody chugs. Here's a look at the program director working on the Al Franken radio show...
"Oops. Use the seven second delay to block that comment and then cut quick to a commercial!"
"What's that? We don't have any sponsors? Then play a song!"
"What's that? We aren't a music show, then play a recorded comedy bit."
"That ought to hold the little b@stards."

"I'll ask him advice: how he approaches a show, how he frames an issue. If it doesn't happen it will be very understandably because he won't take my call," Franken said."
I'd like to bet with him on this one.
But he 'll never call Limbaugh, because he hates him too much!
Besides, he and his elitist liberal friends know more about how to do a successful radio show already. They don't need Limbaugh's advise. Or so they think!
I can't wait to hear it, and then watch it bomb in the ratings! I'll lol for days over this!
