The chaperon received a call from Crossan at about 1:30 a.m. Monday saying she was OK and would be returning to her room in the hotel, Faaumu said.

Better question, what was the chaperon there for when she would take phone calls at 1:30am from the high schooler she was supposed to be watching?

Maybe they're trust fund kids, like Howard Brush Dean was, when he was skiing in Colorado after he dodged the draft?

It takes about $1,200 and a winter break from college. Nothing special really. Didn't anyone else here work during high school and save some money?

The two men, ages 19 and 20 . . .

I imagine this 19 year old man would be described as a teenager if he had been the victim.

Roomrates are down - January isn't the best weather to be visiting Hawaii. Package deals abound for the outer islands, especially Maui and Kauai.

And there are always kids who have the money for a trip like this. Don't know where they get it, but from having lived in Hawaii, it always amazed me how kids would show up at school breaks and during the Summer. The Hyatt Regency is NOT a cheap hotel.

Hawaii packages are actually pretty cheap - there are a ton of kids that come over for Spring vacation and other holidays...

Another article says that one of the guys, who works for his uncle's landscaping business, won the trip from a contest held by a client. They live in Cali, so it's not that far. It's nice how everyone jumps to conclusions, though.
