Fresno will pay $60,000 to conservative online forum Free Republic and retract a news release that called the organization a "hate group," according to a settlement agreement released Monday. Free Republic founder Jim Robinson, who lives in Fresno, said he wouldn't have filed the suit if the city had acknowledged its error.

Sounds like the taxpayers of Fresno just funded a free vacation for Jim Robinson. Trial lawyers strike again.

Jim, $60 K? I think you should have held out for a lot more...or at least dragged them into court and REALLY had them squirm. Is it just the city? Did Reyes have to personally pay anything? And was her job part of the settlement?

So nice to see the left take it in the chops!

"Robinson said he plans to use the settlement money to travel across the country in a motor home visiting Free Republic chapters. He will end the trip in Washington, D.C."I hope Jim lets us know if he's going to be visiting in Western Pennsylvania. I'd like to meet him and shake his hand! God Bless Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic!

Reyes resigned from the commission Jan. 2. She said that she has a new job as an organizer for a nonprofit. Any hate group ties????
To: hellinahandcart
Does this mean Jim is getting $120,000?

LOL.

I'll post another duplicate, and then YOU post one too, and then FR won't have to fundraise for another year...
To: smith288; hellinahandcart
How did you search? I read the article on newsmax and used the FR search engine by title. Unfortunately I searched for the newsmax title and not the fresno bee title.
Thus the duplicate posting. My mistake.

For what its worth,... Newsmax has a link to the fresno bee, but their headline reads: Bigot's Attack on Free Republic Costs $60,000
