Yeah, I know, I was kind of critical. I really do like Bush - I think he is one of the best presidents we have had, and I thank God from the bottom of my heart that he is the President instead of (shudder) the other one....

I just am so cynical about government programs; and the amount of money that sticks to thousands of beaurocratic hands in between the taxpayer and the destined recipient.

I'd rather see other incentives promoting marriage such as more tax reductions, including for children, tax reductions when there is a stay at home mother, ditto for homeschooled children, maybe some kind of encouragement for faith based marriage counseling, and how about the 10 Commandments being posted here and there? Tighten up divorce, so people can't split up so easily. Abstinence promotion. When people get married but they've already had numerous sex partners, their hearts and minds are already hardened and it's harder to bond emotionally and spiritually with their spouse. It's already "easy come, easy go".

Good night!

I didn't think you were too critical at all, and it is a lot of money. The point behind my post was that some folks complain we don't do enough about fixing marriage and when somebody tries, others don't like it. You just can't please all of the people all the the time. You can't even please some of the people all of the time.

What I'd like to see, and it will never happen, is folks having to take classes on child rearing as a requirement to having kids. That's what we had to do when we adopted, and it was difficult having to go through all that, especially since we already knew it from too much preparation. Yet some who can and do have kids don't know the first thing about raising kids.

You made some really good points that I have to wholeheartedly agree with. Parents really need to do a better job of raising their kids and training them to be responsible parents themselves.

Back to an earlier comment: With a new well pump, two new pressure tanks, the help of a plumber and $1400 later, we have water again.

Good night!
