I see Bush as a moral leader, and from what I understand, a praying man. Maybe his plan is a good idea and maybe it isn't. I'd like to learn more about it before I say one way or the other.

He may be a moral man --- but the government needs to get out of family life --- leave that to the churches, end welfare programs which is a great financial disincentive for marriages to work. The whole reason for marriage as far as society goes is that it takes two parents in most cases to provide for and raise children. Take the government money out that and people will start figuring out how to make marriage work again.

Ending most of welfare is a good idea. Having grown up in one of the most liberal cities in California I've seen welfare abused many times. But I don't think ending welfare will force people to figure out how marriage works. I think the situation is rather complicated because
  1. We've let it go on far too long
  2. There are too many issues that need to be fixed
