Very similar to the thread last week. I can't blame the First Lady for wanting her girls to be like any other girls. I wish the media would let them grow up without the constant battering.

While going to college and even a few years after I worked part time in college bars as a bouncer...

The stuff I've seen kids get away with...was way way beyond anything the Bush kids have done...

(wont even mention the felonious crap the Clintons got away with)

imo ..the Bush girls have been singled out for harrasment..

When you can't get at the father, you attack his children. Typical left-wing hatred and despicability (is that a word). Anyway, there are no words for my hatred of the media. I did not like attacks on Chelsea when she was just the President's daughter, and I don't like this stuff.

Sleazy journalism. lack of ethics and manners are de rigeur these days. Sad, really.

and she treated her Secret Service agents with respect (Chelsea)

Well, her mother certainly had/has no respect for the military and her scorn and abuse of security officials is well documented. Somehow I am skeptical that Chelsea is a bastion of compliance and good-will toward her Secret Service agents. And that casts the overall credibility of the tone of article in a certain doubt.

The corduroy jeans are ratty at their too-long hems. Jenna is wearing a short black T-shirt, and her exposed tummy pooches out over the low-riding waistband. Flip-flops are on her feet. Her blond hair has been pinned up carelessly. Sunglasses cover her eyes. Hoisting a backpack, she clomps up the plane stairs and disappears.

The author is making a lot of to-do over presidential daughter appearance. I have to wonder if she reallllly wants to go there? One cheap shot begs another, doesn't she know?

Sounds like the run of the mill youngsters I see today. Especially the slouchy attire. A lot of kids don't want to stand out. At lest they aren't sporting pink-purple hair, pleated plaid short skirt with straps hanging all over and combat boots. Oh, oh yes, and the stainless steel hanging out of body orifices.

I don't know how believable this story is, given it came from a hostile source. If Mrs. Bush failed to require better behavior from her daughters, including adherence to the laws regulating alcohol consumption by minors, she acted unwisely from both a parental standpoint and a political perspective. Given that this story was issued by The Washington Post, it is probably no more than a hit piece and thus should be discounted.
