WEST POINT, N.Y. – Plans for a military academy are developing in Iraq and one is set to open next year in Afghanistan thanks to the hard work and perseverance of two West Point officers.

The project started in October....the group embarked on a program to jointly develop a new four-year academic program...intended to develop “leaders of character” who could command troops and one day help redevelop the nation.

Peace through readiness, ping!

Perhaps they can take some of the Air Force Academy staff to help out with gender sensitivity issues.

Perhaps they should open one in China as well.

Neither one of those countries could be classified as an ally. Neither has universally thrown off the Islamic Jihad spirit. Why do we make haste to educate them in the art of war?

Dumb, dumb

After two years, Afghanistan understands the importance of having a military like ours. They see the compassion, the dedication and the ethics. Iraq hasn't really had a chance to see the advantages. They soon will. A military, whose main job is to protect the people, is worth more than gold to a democracy. It can't be taken over by a dictator, even thought a dictator may try.
