It must be an amnesty, Pat repeated the word 12 times in that short piece. Perhaps he tried to force it on the reader a little too much.

Giving legal status to illegal aliens is, by definition an amnesty.

It would also be amnesty--and one I'd support--to give them a month to go home, during which no one will be arrested and deported.

Dittos on that. This is far different from the blanket amnesty that the Democrats support, it is even more narrow than the McCain/Kolbe proposals. But such distinctions are lost on Buchanan. That IMHO cheapens the debate. and I am far from happy with Bush's/Cornyn's proposals BTW.
