Nonsense. I'm not faulting a lack of assimilation for the problems facing immigration reform, I'm faulting massive immigration for the lack of assimilation, and that's just a side effect anyway. Nice spin on my arguement, though.
If you do just a tiny bit of research about American immigrations issues, you'll find that the periodic breaks taken after large immigration waves (such as the Irish and Italians) helped them to assimilate into American society and culture. And yes, there is (or was) a Western Europeon bred American culture, and it was good, and created this Republic .
Don't even start on the race thing...I'm talking culture. I'd still believe the same if this HUGE influx of immigrants were coming from Scotland (my heritage)and overwhelming our social services and depressing our wages, not to mention them insisting we wear kilts and talking with an accent no one can understand.
Just so you know, parts of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas are already "Balkanized". You can't walk in certain parts of town (or whole towns for that matter) without being accosted as a "gringo". Do some research on the Southwest. Also, do some research on the number of illegal immigrant prisoners in our penal system. Damn those Scots...:)
