Teen motorist fires at cop who offered assistance
The Houston Chronicle ^ | 11 January 2004

A teenage motorist fired at an off-duty University of Houston-Downtown police officer who offered help for his stalled vehicle early today, police said. Officer Jaime Cortez was trying to drive around the car in the 5700 block of Broadway about 1:45 a.m. when he rolled down his window and asked if the 16-year-old driver needed help. HPD investigators said Cortez was not in uniform and didn't identify himself as an officer.

The teenager apparently was offended by the gesture and fired three rounds, striking the officer's car once, police said. Cortez then followed the vehicle to a motel in the 6300 block of the Gulf Freeway. Houston police were called to the scene and took the teenager into custody. He has been turned over to juvenile authorities, police officials said.

Fortunately for the officer, the teenager - influenced by TV shows he had seen - was holding the gun, a 9mm semi-automatic, sideways. Result: Hit ratio on vehicle sized target - 33%.

Teen cop?

LOL. I wondered about that as well. The actual headline reads:

Please change the title to the correct one; this one is misleading and mis-stated.

Gee... and once you find out the actual title, the story just isn't as interesting.

The police officer is part of the global police state, and was trying to sieze the teens car illegally. Or that is what many people would construe out of this that are police haters. I on the other hand think this cop should have shot back.
