Of course, you missed the entire point which was that the history of our politics shows rare occasions where statesmen where elected rather than political hacks. Anyone with a knowledge of American political history would know this.
There are only a few true statesmen which the bamboozled and ignorant electorate has allowed to be elected. FAR TOO MANY have been Clintons (George and Bill), Martin Van Burens, Aaron Burrs, Tylers, Buchanans, Millard Fillmores or worse. Demagogues, crooked machine operators and political manipulators are far too common to allow any pretension of the high quality of our political leaders to hold much sway.
Such a view is sheer mythology.
Political genius has been concentrated in a mere handful of our leaders. Only one or two were DemocRat.
