How to Lose Your Job in Talk Radio - Clear Channel gags KFYI's Goyette, an antiwar conservative!

Imagine these startling headlines with the nation at war in the Pacific six months after Dec. 7, 1941: No Signs of Japanese Involvement in Pearl Harbor Attack! Faulty Intelligence Cited; Wolfowitz: Mistakes Were Made.
Or how about an equally disconcerting World War II headline from the European theater: German Army Not Found in France, Poland, Admits President; Rumsfeld: Oops!, Powell Silent; Bring Em On, Says Defiant FDR.
It seems to me that when there is reason to go to war, it should be self-evident. The Secretary of State should not need to convince a skeptical world with satellite photos of a couple of Toyota pickups and a dumpster. And faced with a legitimate casus belli, it should not be hard to muster an actual constitutional declaration of war. Now in the absence of a meaningful Iraqi role in the 9/11 attack and the mysterious disappearance of those fearsome Weapons of Mass Destruction, there might be some psychic satisfaction to be had in saying, I told you so! But it sure isnt doing my career as a talk-show host any good.
The criterion of self-evidence was only one of dozens of objections I raised before the elective war in Iraq on my afternoon drive-time talk show on KFYI in Phoenix.

Did you know KFYI told Goyette he wasn't supporting the president enough? Then they took his drive-time show away from him and put him on much later.
Anyway, he's telling the entire Clear Channel story!! Must read - censorship in Talk Radio, Big Business protecting the president and so on...

Makes you wonder if there was something else going on? How was his ratings compared to his local competition?

Tin foil hat time!
He has the right to say what he wants, anytime he wants. He doesn't have a right to have a forum (radio show) to espouse his views.
If Clear Channel decides for marketing reasons that they want him to discuss the fine points of cross-stich for hours on end, it is their choice! He either can take it or leave it. It is not a giant big business conspiracy.
So, instead of posting this story, day-in and day-out, learn to accept the fact that all media we listen, read or watch is censored. If he is complaining about it, he is a big baby, he knows the game.

It's only censorship if it's done by the government. Private enterprises should be free hire and fire at their discretion.

I listen to KFYI daily. Goyette sucks. I hate his show. It's the only show I dislike intensely. I suspect he's getting canned because he is losing audience and no other reason.

"Bush apologists and superhawks Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity..."
I don't consider either of these men to be 'superhawks'...and I have heard both of them make opposing remarks about some of the Bush decisions.
Doug Stephan is carried on our local Clear Channel radio station, and although he says he's conservative and more or less votes Republican, he always sounds like he's spewing DNC talking points to me. I think he's on about 5 hours a day...of course, it's the late night-early morning shift.

I like Charles, but he turned me off, (and vice versa) when he gave Col. Hackworth free reign during the war. There is no doubt his ratings suffered. I certainly wasn't the only listener to bail. This may have been an economic decision. I'll bet the replacement duo, Liddy (G.Gordon's son)& Hill, has stronger numbers.

It seems to me that when there is reason to go to war, it should be self-evident. The Secretary of State should not need to convince a skeptical world with satellite photos of a couple of Toyota pickups and a dumpster. Should be, but I'm sorry, it isn't. That's how things worked in 1939, when enemies had to mass trucks and tanks and artillery and troops to destroy your country. Back before the days of suitcase nukes, massive jetliners, milled anthrax and veiled war by stealth through the clever use of proxies and alliances with elusive international terrorist groups communicating instantly through the world wide web.
Welcome to the 21st century. Grow up, get a brain -- and start using it.

Sounds like he's having done to him what CBS did to Bernie Goldberg, more or less. Guess your response to Goldberg would have been "stop whining!"?

How about this headline:
Thousands Dead In Honolulu - Japanese Suspected Based on Attack Aircraft Markings, but Lucky Lindy Cites Italian Aircraft Carrier Missing from Mediteranean - FDR Announces Commission to Investigate - FDR Urges: "Let's Not Risk Fighting Japs When Germans May Be to Blame"

Obviously, Goyette isn't the sharpest tack in the box.

Dam, I did not even get a change to drill this guy between the eyes. These liberal A$$ idiots who as imminent threat have a bush bashing mentality.
To: FBD
If I was his program director, I would advise him that his positions are hurting himself and therefore the station. Right or wrong, those are the facts. He understandably didn't change his tune, and was moved to minimize damage.

Never heard or heard of Goyette, but if you're accurate in describing his show, there'd be no need for what you mistakenly call "censorship."
I'd turn him off.

How about this for a 1941 news story:
Unnamed intelligence sources tell this newspaper that there is no way a Japanese carrier could have been that far West in the Pacific. According to a senior official, "Looks to us like the Germans found the northwest passage and then disguised themselves as Japanese so we'd stay out of their theatre."
