The book is a smear job. Saw it in a bookstore recently and checked out the description of the book and the man is a nutjob. You're seeing a lot more systematic attempts by the press, others to tear this President down now. The Bushes never seem to learn politics is a form of war.

I'm waiting for him to say W was on the Grassy Knoll.

IMHO...Wasn't this guy a screw-ball during Reagan's 2 terms in office?...an Big Time RINO....Who glorified goverment growth during Nixon's tenure and then was very critical of Reagan during his tenure.

He said he wrote the book entitled, I believe, The Emerging Right, in 1969 that became the conservative "bible" in the 70's.

Good grief.Bush 1 was the architect of building the strength of Iraq.He brings up October surprise, arms for Iran. Now he's bringing up the premature babies and incubators lie.
It's a wonder this country has survived the Bushes.I just looked up the % of arms sold to Iraq before 1990.The percent in dollars was point 5%...that is .5%USSR was 57.3% France12.3% China 11.8 % others 17.3% US .5% UK .2% These figures are derived from the Swedish International Peace Institute.
He's bringing up the old Prescott Bush banking for Hitler charge.

He accuses the Bushes of everything short of serial murder.

This is fertile territory. Borders Books and Music is in NW DC - the heart of the Keepers of the Welfare State. Phillips is a "bomb thrower." He has found so many things that would indicate guilt by association and can't pull it all together. I think he is trying to stir others to do the research. He'll make his money now off of this book. Some guys start seeing a conspiracy behind every tree. I would say to Kevin Phillips, "just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean someone isn't following you."
To: MEG33
Then, at the end, he finally says what he should have started off with, "I have no doubt that the great majority of people involved in the War on Terror are in it for the right reasons." (or words to that effect)
To: leadpenny
I quit listening.A lot of it is old stuff. He even quoted Ted Koppel to back up an assertion...really.

He said he wrote the book entitled, I believe, The Emerging Right, in 1969 that became the conservative "bible" in the 70's.Actually, it was called "The Emerging Republican Majority", and brilliantly tracked the Demographic Trends that we see today...the Solid [Republican] South, the Power Shift (another book by another author) to the Sunbelt.
Now, with Texas Redistricting all but a done deal...sort of proves his credentials as a visionary.
With that track record, I always listen to him, whether I agree or not.
And, I think the year was more like 1967.

Thanks. No doubt he has done considerable research for this book but I kept getting the feeling that he is throwing accusations out there in the form of loose ends hoping that someone else will tie them together.
His talk made me feel self conscious about being a conspiracy theorist in my favorite area - the JFK assassination.

That's exactly what he is doing. A smear job is right
