The jury was not told that Debra Moore lost another child just four months before her son's death. Her 2-year-old daughter, Adrianna Faye Moore, died in a swimming pool in March 2002. The judge ruled it would be prejudicial for the jury to hear about the girl's death.

Our judicial system at it's best! God help us all.

It can't be a Darwin award, they already reproduced, twice.

It can't be a Darwin Award because she can reproduce again. Aside from noting that, I'll remove myself from this discussion because I find this flippancy as repulsive as does Prime Choice.

Yeah, I'm one of those conservative parents who think this woman should be sterilized before she kills again. The libs probably hate me for wanting to step on her "civil rights"!

Darwin Award!

Sorry to bust your bubble, but this does in no way qualify for a Darwin award. She killed the baby. The baby did not go to the bathroom, rolled the pacifier in the crushed OxyContin and then sucked on the pacifier

because she can reproduce again.

I was thinking the prison time would put her past child-bearing age. Again, I also abhor flippant treatment of life and death situations.

Don't think that would matter. Don't they still have "conjugal visits"?

I agree. I am none to thrilled with some of the comments here, as well.

She killed the baby.

She certainly did, and that baby was her offspring carrying her genes.

Um.... okay.... geez... doesn't it seem RELEVANT that she... oh, never mind. I give up on our judicial system.

I was wondering about that, too.

I'm sure they do. She'll probably get pregnant again while serving her sentence.

Re: conjugal visits

That sort of thing (along with weekend unsupervised leave) makes it even more likely these women will have an abortion. All this leniency with prisoners leads to even worse things in the end.

From their own web-site.

The Darwin Awards honor those who improve our gene pool... by removing themselves from it. Of necessity, this honor is bestowed posthumously.

Good Lord!

I don't think she will get much mercy where she is going. I hope for her sake, she understands the magnitude of her actions, and works to rectify them.

There was a huge thread about him. I had to stop reading after his wife "KangarooJaqui" came on and thanked all of us.
I sat crying and crying. I resolved that from now on, I would watch what I say, let someone who gets flamed know that we all are just people with opinions and try to kindly remind someone who gets into the emotion of the thread, of that.
I have been hurtful myself when I have tried to be cute or clever. I don't want to be.

I feel bad that I didn't know about this tragedy.

I have been quite a smartass at times and will make an effort to do better after learning this.

Thanks and prayers for his family.
