Ever listen to Phil Hendrie? Best national talk show there is. He is on 910 in PHX at 10 pm, or you can pick his show up from LA on 640 am (very very very strong signal) starting at 8 pm. His show turns radio on its ear, it is pure theater. He does the voices of his guests (men, women, black, hispanic, gay, old, young) and sets up an improbable point of view, usually with something absurd. Then the callers, who don't know the joke, call in to debate, and he just makes the callers look like complete idiots. And it is brilliantly funny stuff. He also does real talk for an hour or so, he used to be very liberal, but, much like Dennis Miller, he has become pretty conservative/libertarian in his views. Great theatre and funny as hell.

I totally disagree with you about Goyette, Jacobs, Liddy and Hill and KFYI but you are right about Phil Hendrie. Hendrie mocks the whole medium and his show is a riot. KFYI actually carried it very briefly a few years ago, but like Goyette it was wrong for their demographic. Too many conservatives can't take a joke.

Ever listen to Phil Hendrie?I love Hendrie. I've almost driven off the road from laughing so hard several times listening to him. He's on 970 WFLA out of Tampa around here - my huge gripe is that the station also carries Tampa Bay Devil Rays games, so for six months out of the year Hendrie's show is usually pre-empted to carry the games (that's bad enough - the fact that the Rays are without question the most pathetic team in major league baseball is just a little salt to rub in the wound!). To keep getting my regular Phil Hendrie fix I've had to sign up for his subscription service at his website.

Can't get Hendrie locally here, but I listen to him on 850 KOA in Denver (7-10 PM Mountain) on the internet, and over the air latenight on the weekends when they have The Best Of Hendrie. I agree, he's great radio theatre and has carved out a niche for himself.
