Amber Alert Issued for 5 Year Old Queens NY Girl Posted: Saturday 01/11/04 3:31 PM CST

The NYPD activated the Amber Alert on Saturday after the girl was abducted following a homicide.

Destiny Mitchell 5 yrs., black, female, with black hair, brown eyes, 3'6", 40 lbs.

Was abducted in Queens NY on Saturday morning the 11th. She was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans with brown stripes and white Reebok sneakers.

Police are looking for Jeffrey Mitchell a black male, 45 yrs., with black hair and brown eyes, 5'6", 150 lbs. With a mole on his right cheek. He was wearing a black snorkel jacket with fur on the hood, black pants, a white t-shirt and gray and white sneakers.

The suspect committed a homicide and fled with the child on foot around 130th street and Liberty Avenue.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD at (718) 845-2260 or dial 911.

I got the alert from Code Amber; the Amber Alert web site. It is probably their mistake.

Could be. There was one time I email Code Amber because I thought the perp was the father and it turned out to be the uncle.

They will put out an Amber Alert for a parental abduction if the child is considered to be in danger. The fact that he committed a murder makes them believe that she could be in danger of being harmed or killed.
