I standardized several years ago on .223 and .308 for long rifles What are your thoughts on a good .308 rifle?
I have an AR-15, and am considering getting an AR-10 to keep the same manual of arms. ARMS is supposed to come out with an SIR later this year that free floats the AR-10 barrel, so I'm considering getting that, along with a variable Leopuld scope.

I have an FN-FAL which I like a lot...but the ARM rifles are very appealing. I believe any of them are good as long as you practice enough to get a real good feel for shooting it accurately.
I also use a Savage .308 with a tactical barrell for hunting.

I use the Browning BAR Mark II Safari semi-auto in .308.
4 in the mag and 1 in the pipe. It's heavy, but recoil is not something that will kill your shoulder. I go through 40 or 50 rds very comfortably at the range.
Also, it may not be as accurate at 300yds as a bolt action, but I don't need to hit a dime. I'll settle for a forehead.
