Enough ammo is always an issue...casue when its gone, all you have is a club until you get more. That's why I'm a big believer in having guns in the primary calibers, such a 9mm, .45, .223, .308, and 12 guage. .30-06 isn't bad either.
I like other calibers as well, but you should have (ideally) a gun for every one of the main caliber weapons.

A good list, but let me remind you of the humble .22 LR.
Humble, but effective if properly used.

I standardized several years ago on .223 and .308 for long rifles and .44mag for hanguns and my lever action bear gun (both shoot the same cartridge)...and .12 gauge for shotguns.
I am considering a 9mm pistol and carbine combination to augment my .44mag.

A collection of "Cartridge Adaptors" for a 12ga. would be a handy thing too, as would a Contender or TC rifle with barrels, and a bunch of barrel groups for Bond Derringers.
Of course...one needs to be near them when the balloon goes up...or fight your way back...
The BEST weapon is one's SELF. The rest are just good tools, and in the hands of determined workers....
