"You support the 'right' of fed/state governments to 'regulate' damn near anything [guns included] to the point of prohibiting possession."

Hah! You're just pi$$ed that your precious recreational drugs are illegal. Poor baby.

Tell you what. You find where there's a constitutional "right" to do drugs (as there is to keep and bear arms) and I'll change my position.

Until then, stop mixing the two. I'll state if for you once again. I believe in the individual right to keep and bear arms (arms defined as those carried by the average soldier), including concealed carry.

I think the Federal war on drugs is unconstitutional under the 10th amendment.

On the other hand I despise drug use and think most libertarians I have seen on FR are simply dopers wanting to do their thing. I once thought I was a libertarian and even would have registered as one if not for their position on abortion. After reading so many of them post on this site I no longer have much respect for them even if they are right on the second amendment.

Sorry paulsen, but your position that our property rights can be infringed is clear below:

You've written:
"Your elected representatives in Congress concluded that an individual growing, manufacturing, trading, selling, bartering, ... whatever, illegal drugs wholly within that individual's state, has an effect on interstate trafficking (commerce).
Obviously, I agree, as I think most rational people would --- "

Paraphased:
--- Your elected representatives in Congress concluded that an individual manufacturing, trading, selling, bartering, ... whatever, 'illegal' weapons wholly within that individual's state, has an effect on interstate trafficking (commerce).
Obviously, I agree, as I think most rational people would ---

You can't have it both ways kiddo.. -- the private possession of property like guns, booze, drugs, cigarettes, etc; ---- cannot be prohibited.
-- Their public usages can be reasonably regulated, but only under our BOR's protections.

And I believe in including light artillery, as practiced by such founders and followons as Henry Knox, George Rogers Clark, and Cassius Clay [the abolitionist publisher and nephew of Henry Clay, not the prizefighter of a later generation]
