Let's get rid of the welfare state, eject every illegal and close the border.

It took a year to mobilize and move a few hundred thousand military members to Iraq. These servicemen were easy to identify and followed orders. How exactly are the 10 million plus illegals to be deported involuntarily, who will do it, how long will it take, how much will it cost, and who will replace them in the marketplace? The deadbeat losers in the ghetto and trash in the rural areas won't work at McDonalds and Wal-Mart for $8+ an hour. Think the Dimwits in Congress are going to lay down without a filibuster on ending the welfare state?

Instead of focusing on the "ideal" solution, how about working on a realistic solution?

Who will do it ?: We will. If enough people complain about contractors who hire illegals, then those contractors will be run out of business, the illegals will be forced out of work and they will go home (see post 45).

How long will it take ?: If 100,000 cops each arrest one illegal every week they will be gone in two years.

What will it cost?: It will cost a lot less than it costs in crime, in welfare, in grief, and all of the problems we will have as long as they are here. What was California worth?

Who will replace them?: Hutterites will grow crops, American teenagers will work at McDonalds. And the jobs that aren't taken will vanish. Too bad. If legal workers won't take the job, then the job is superfluous. Some rich people will have to clean their own toilets and some median strips will have rocks instead of flowers.

All these things do not require an act of congress or an executive order from the President. All it takes is enforcement of existing law.
