WASHINGTON -- US officials have found evidence corroborating White House allegations that Russian companies sold Saddam Hussein high-tech military equipment that threatened US forces during the invasion of Iraq last March, a senior State Department official said yesterday.
The official said the United States has found proof that Russian companies exported night-vision goggles and radar-jamming equipment to Iraq, the official said. The evidence includes the equipment itself and proof that it was used during the war, according to the official. Such exports would violate the terms of United Nations sanctions against Iraq.

Here we see more "smoking guns", illegal Soviet weaponry utilised by the Deposed Evil Husseinist regime in Iraq.
Let no one say that they didn't have WMD or weapons expressely forbade them by the UN. The UN did in fact support this operation, contrary to popular belief when they authorised the US to deal properly with Iraq in 1991.
This article is also of interest to those who have studied the Soviet efforts at Middle Eastern destabilization throughout the sixties and seventies, which would culminate with their opening of an axis of advance to the west in Afghanistan which was perceived as the gateway to the entire Middle East region by many Soviet gernerals. We know that they had operations in planning for the furtherance of their aggressions there. The Evil Sovite Empire of Communist States, which were outright allies to Hussein, made gifts of all manner of weaponry to the Ba'athist Regime from the beginning, largely aimed at the anihillation of the State of Israel, an objective which is still being pursued by the agents of Communism and Terror in the region and the world.

Big deal, big surprise and who cares. They also found a hell of a lot of weapons that US compainies had sold to Saddam too.

Yes and the Democrats keep screeming about us getting France, Russia and Germany into the fold. This wasnt Bill Clinton and Jack Chirac Saddam was fooling with.
The Democrats and their foreign policy will destroy America and have us in the same fix that Russia finds herself in if we are not careful.
Of course Wes Clark says he will promise America this would not happen to us and he would protect us.
I keep looking for his political ad coming out showing him exiting from a telephone booth with his blue suit, red cape and the big old "S" on his chest. That "S" represents a four letter word and add BULL to the front of it.

What else was the oil for food program for? The Russians were in charge of the program with absolutely no accounting, and $30 billion went missing. I'm surprised they bought any food, and the UN isn't still clamoring for the reinstitution of the oil for food. It's for the children doncha know.

Fyi.
Reported during DoD briefings when our troops discovered these goggles on the March to Bagdhad last Spring.
Case closed, according to this anonymous senior State Dept. official...

Isn't conceivable that a Russian company could sell these items without the involvement/knowledge of the Russian government?

I think you'te probably right, pre-Putin. Yeltsin did not care where the money came from, and the oligarchs ran wild. Putin is a different guy.

Yeah but the French and Russian stuff has 2003 manufacture dates stamped on them.

We're still waiting...
To: thoughtomator
I recall seeing photos of some French-made shells or missles with 2003 stenciled on them. Are there pictures of what we've discovered that was manufactured in Russia?

Source please.
Actually, forget it. I know you don't have a source for such a ludicrous charge.
