Surely you jest! No dang DEMOCRAT would get away with the crap GWB has pulled.

Agree. That is a glaring fact.

We would not need a new guest worker program if the government had not neglected its responsibilities in the first place and maintained proper border integrity with our southern neighbors.

We march to invade Iraq when they pose not immediate threat to us, yet we allow mexican soldiers to fire on our border patrol agents, kidnap our citizens, cross the border illegally and committ crimes against our citizenry...they they want to reward them with a special guest worker program? I dont think so....

Hello. So, you pulled my thread about the "Mexican Mindset". The reason stated was "personal attacks" and "racism". Did someone engage in that practice on that thread? If they were personal attacks against me...I am not even beginning to get upset. Racism? I can't recall exactly every comment, but my comments were based on TRUTH. Nothing but the truth. My wife, a native of Mexico, told me the entire story and SHE actually lived it. And, SHE said that such is very common in Mexico. Whether you pull it or not, it is still the truth.

I have not racist motivation for posting such and will continue to research and detail the Hispanic culture until I am banned from Free Republic. Massive corruption is also taking place across the United States as I type. In a local community near here, the County Attorney called TWO (not one) candidate and threatened a type of blackmail if either decided to continue running for sheriff against his chosen candidate. One continues and the other decided to not run.

The Federal government official contacted BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENT declined to intervene (that's HIS job). The corruption and dishonesty is rampant. Is that racism? Oh, and in another community near here, the son of a school administrator was throwing rocks from the interstate overpass and... oh well...who cares? Right?

One of our staff pulled it because the thread had degenerated to be basically a whole lot of personal attacks and a whole lot of racism. The thread didn't start that way.

It sucks, but it appears we are going to have to go back to the old way where threads end up getting yanked because people want to turn them into cesspools of nothing but bashing, bashing Mexicans, bashing Bush supports, bashing anti-bush supporters, etc.

I've been trying to encourage people to knock it off so that these threads can stay up and we can have discussions on the issues involved which should occur. But there is not enough peer-pressure policing. Everyone wants to tell the other side to knock it off, but not enough people are telling their side to knock it off. Until we get there, when threads get too bad they are going to be pulled or backroomed.

You can help prevent it by telling people on your threads to cut the crap.

Thanks, LM

Okay, I understand. Without the explaination I was left thinking I had engaged in personal attacks and racism. Also, was subjected to some abusive mail and just didn't quite understand what was going on. Thanks.

The low poll response is interesting -- but I wouldn't read it as a positive sign. It may be due to the lack of information and the obvious obfuscation regarding this plan -- which appears to be a deliberate part of the adminstration's strategy -- or it's simply indicates a generalized turnoff.

Apparently the base is not very energized, and that is never a good sign.

Contact your representatives, makes your voices heard.

Believe me, most of you do not contact your representatives, but you will come on here and complain wildly about jobs going overseas and illegal immigration

Erik, you have some good ideas, but similar ones have been suggested for many years, with no response. What good is contacting our reps when they pay no attention to what we say? It's the same with this administration, I'm sorry to say. I agree with 'Willie'....we need to get rid of the lawyers, but I say let's go a step further.... let's get rid of the politicians who promise a yellow brick road leading to a land of milk and honey....until we elect them. Then, all bets are off, and ONCE IN POWER, they have no inclination to stand up for those of us who put them there. Same story. Nothing changes, no matter how much you want change, or work for it.

The reality is, in today's liberal media world, a national candidate CANNOT get elected running on a conservative platform. The willing dupes are so ill-educated (thank you public schools) and so brain-washed by political correctness, bleeding heart liberals, and "for the children" rhetoric that the conservative agenda sounds to them like a return to the dark ages.

But, Thom, don't you think people are beginning to wake up? Hell, I was a democrat till I was 35. I woke up. Don't you think that a "TRUE Conservative" agenda (which we don't seem to have right now) might come to some as "sense" for a change? Just my thoughts.

I think you are absolutely right, but not enough people have yet come around. To get elected, W still has to capture a big part of the "middle of the road" voters (those that still don't have a clue). I think that to push a conservative agenda we need to have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a big margin in the House. Then, if we can move a conservative agenda through, we might be able to show how conservative principles work for everyone's benefit and begin to wind down the nanny state. It would also be very helpful if the rich conservatives were to buy one of the broadcast (ABCCBSNBC) networks and begin to have the "news" re-slanted back to the middle.

That I have and while they are quite porous, they still do not get the amount of traffic that is received from the southern borders.
