Briton denies trying to smuggle missiles into US
A British man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he tried to smuggle shoulder-fired missiles into the US.
Hemant Lakhani, 68, of Hendon, north London, also denied charges that he told an undercover agent posing as a terrorist that he could obtain a radioactive "dirty bomb".
Lakhani, who appeared at New Jersey District Court in Newark, denied further charges that he offered to procure anti-aircraft guns, tanks, armoured personnel carriers, radar systems and C-4 explosives.
No trial date was set but all parties will return to court on April 26, when defence motions will be heard.
Henry Klingeman, for Lakhani, said he expected to file a bail application for the Briton, who is currently in custody.
Indian-born Lakhani was arrested in Newark shortly after arriving in the US on August 12, following a double sting operation by the FBI and Russian intelligence.
He is accused of trying to sell 50 shoulder-fired missiles to the undercover agent who was posing as a Muslim terrorist determined to shoot down a US passenger jet.
Lakhani faces up to 25 years in jail if convicted.

Do you think a bullet to the head might help stop crazies from trying this again? I dunno. But lets try it!

Send him to Gitmo for the rest of his life. Give him a room with a view of the jungle.

Dave,
The problem is this: Someone who is 19 gets the same sentence because that's what the 68 year old got.
A 99 year sentence is the same as a 25 year to a 68 year ole. Give it to him. Then, when the 19 year old comes to trial, he can get the 99 year sentence also without complaining that the 68 year old only got 25 years for the same offense.
Actually, to heck with it. Give 'em both the death penaly. Problem solved.
