The idea that Rove meant this puppy to be DOA from the get-go, and just a pacifier for target Hispanic voters, while not damaging otherwise because others would know it was DOA, is rather cynical, and I am not subscribing to it. If I had to guess, I think the plan will either fail or be greatly watered down.

In reality, The Big Business contributors to the GOP (Despite common wisdom) Do NOT want the illegals to become Guest workers because then they will have to pay them minimum wage, and then that cheap immigrant labor won't be so cheap anymore.

Personally, I would prefer the status quo over any major changes.changes

I agree. It's much like passing CFR because the SCOTUS would overturn it.

I've been wondering about this whole proposal thingy...no doubt this pissed off the base...myself included...but it sure as hell shoved the left further left and closer to the edge of the cliff...

I just have a hard time thinky Rove is really that good...

Jury is out for me on Rove's gamble...other than that I have had an awakening of sorts and the 'kick em out and deport em' folks have won my vote.

If this thing ends up being the masterful stroke I think the Bush folks think it maybe, I will gladly eat my hat...

After all of this noise I am further right on this issue...and hoping that Rove and Bush are playing big time bluff poker...
