Apparently this is a clip of a longer video of an Apache gunship engaging Iraqis.

Warning: This video is graphic!!!

That first hit looks like the scene from "Saving Private Ryan" when the Germans open up on the Allied soldiers standing on the tank and get blow to bits... grisly. But better them than our boys and girls... They took out a couple of our choppers over the last several weeks. Plus all the casualties from mortar attacks...

so for all the comments from the "sorry to see them die crowd". My pop (former Jarhead) and buddies currently in theater have a little saying.

Payback!!..... ain't it a BEEAAAATTCCHHH!

were far bigger than what was needed to kill the men, but said it is the smallest weapon the Apaches have.

What, the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch wouldn't do?

range is 1/4 - 1/2 mile based on elevation and resolution.

i.e., 400 to 900 yards. At the top of the display a number in the range of "700" appears to be registering. Sounds about right.

In the middle of the night?

What leads you to believe that it is nighttime when this video was taken? IR looks like IR, day or nighttime.

When I was in highschool, I dated a guy whose dad was a retired Marine, did 3 tours of duty in Vietnam, one of them as a door gunner. He told me they went to see "Platoon", and his dad fell asleep. A wonderful critique of Oliver Stone's filmmaking, maybe. But when he came up from Florida for a visit and took us water-skiing in New River, near the Main Gate, I noticed he kept track of every helicopter that was flying in the area out of the corner of his eye.

In the middle of the night?

Why do you think it is night in the video? It was taken in the afternoon judging from the time indicator in the display.

I've downloaded the video and watched repeatedly. As the first guy crosses the road, it appears that he reacts to the sound of the cannon and starts moving faster. He stays at the tractor, while the second guy that was at the tractor starts back across the road and then get vaporized (gunner now auto-ranged). Then, the first guy (now by the tractor) immediately whips some sort of cover (looks like canvas) off a long object a split second before he gets the hard goodbye as well.

From the look of them, they were up to no good (and they were apparently being followed by the Apache long before the video starts). Looks like three less terrorists to me.

Why did 4 guys in the middle of the night

What makes you think it is night when this was taken? This is what IR video looks like in the day as well as in the night. It appears to me to be daytime.

I'm thankful there are people who can and will do the dirty work and despise the enemies who make the job necessary.

Army officials acknowledged that the 30 mm cannons used by the Apache gunners were far bigger than what was needed to kill the men, but said it is the smallest weapon the Apaches have."
