It's possible that Phoenix airport is not equipped to handle this sort of emergency, and that's why they called it back. Also, we don't know how far into the flight this was. A bomb can have a timer..........better to get the plane back as fast as possible.

MSNBC just reported that a plane (United) that had flown from Chicago and landed in Omaha has stayed in Omaha with its sheduled departure on cancelled due to a flight attendant finding putty with wires in it in the bathroom.
